What is the best workflow for me?

Reading this site I see people talking about using DVD2OneX, MTR, Handbrake and more. Is there a reason to use so many apps? I am just beginning to digitize my DVD collection. Currently I am using RipIt to dump the discs content to my drive, then setting Handbrake to batch encode at night using the Apple TV Preset tweaked to 1500kbps average and AAC only. Playback will be on iPhone, Apple TV or the various Macs in the house. There is also a PS3 and an X360, but I've not even attempted to get them working as media players. Should I be doing something different, or will my current workflow be sufficient?

I'm having issues with recent versions of Ripit and HandBrake. Do you have any "a52_syncinfo failed" messages in your HandBrake encode logs?

You should have read the documentation first. The AppleTV preset won't work on an iPhone.
