HB 0.9.2 - Deblock in picutre settings ?

what about the deblock option in the picture settings window ?
no info in the help yet !

Yep your right. Anyway, Deblock in the picture settings is a filter applied *before* it gets to the encoder. Therefore only apply it if the actual dvd source is blocky. Like if you check it in dvdplayer.app and you notice its blocky. It will *not* remove the macroblocking (sometimes referred to as "lego blocks") that you might get when encoding at a lower bitrate typically seen in flat blue areas, etc.

Thanks for the info.

Perhaps you can add this to the Picture Settings FAQ?

Also, is there any significant overlap in the functionality of denoise and deblock? The FAQ describes blocking as one of the artifacts denoise corrects.

BTW, up until now (years) I have not used any of these filters for encodes, but finally had to for one title.
