Hi,
I tried to make a Quicktime movie, using the Quicktime Preset. But the result is not a file ending at ".mov", but ".mp4".
Importing in Final Cut is successful, but opening the file in the Viewer shows, that it cannot be played properly: it moves jerky. So my question is which Codec to take in order to get a (fairly high quality) file ending on ".mov" ?
Thx a lot for your answer!
Codec compatibility with Final Cut Pro ???

Re: Codec compatibility with Final Cut Pro ???
HandBrake doesn't support the mov container.

Thanks for your answer.
The curious thing is that some films that I encoded by ffmpeg make no problems with final cut. Even some .m4v files can be imported (but cannot be played properly in the viewer). Some. That means it could be a problem of my graphic card ...
Best wishes to you,
E.

I would advise that you covert dvd-like sources to .dv for editing in FCP.
(mpeg streamclip is one app that can do it for you)
--sdm.

Good idea.
But converting reduces quality once more?

Re: Codec compatibility with Final Cut Pro ???
yes, .dv is a lossy codec, but not-very much relatively speaking (12GB/hour)
converting to a highly compressed codec like mpeg4 or h264 before editing is a bad idea in my opinion.
Try it, you'll see.
