MacOS Monterey Beta, Handbrake & VideoToolbox

Description of problem or question:
When re-encoding files to H.264 or H.265 using VideoToolbox Encoders (doesn't matter which one) on an M1 Mac Mini booting MacOS Monterey (either beta 4 or beta 5, not tested earlier versions) using either Handbrake 1.4.0 or a recent snapshot build, less than a minute of video is encoded, <5Mb written to disk and the encode crashes.

Using software encoders, everything is fine (if slow)

Using Big Sur as the boot OS, everything is fine.

Is anyone else experiencing the same thing ? I'm guessing it's more an Apple issue than Handbrake but was just wondering if some might have thoughts or a potential solution (other than just using the software encoders)



Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):
Boot M1 Mac into Monterey Beta, set any file to re-encode using a VideoToolbox encoder. I've only tried source .MKV's in either H.264 or H.265 but all fail after re-encoding <1 min of video.



HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):
1.4.0 or HandBrake-20210812191757-e0345c66e-master

I see this too. At first I thought it was an issue with 1.4.1, but your post reminded me that I was using the Monterey Beta (on an M1 Mini) and VTB encoders.

Just an update ... the issue seems to still exist in Monterey Beta 6 (with Handbrake 1.4.1 or HandBrake-20210830190110-9b66a790e-master)

I was going to say that this was either fixed in HB 1.4.2 or in Beta 9, but y'all beat me to it! :D
