Can't get passthrough to work

Post by ozgadgetguy »

Description of problem or question:

I have an MKV file with 4 audio tracks, 2 are pcm_s16le, one is DTS-HD MA (5,1) and one DTS (5.1).

The audio comes out as 2 channel AAC on each of the 4 audio tracks no matter what I do.

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):

Add all audio tracks to the output file. Select audio pass thru on DTS, DTS-HD. I am not sure on this screen if I need to enter anything in the codec section?

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

1.4.0-beta 1

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):

MACOS Big Sur 11.3

HandBrake Activity Log ***required*** (see How-to get an activity log)

Code: Select all

Following the activity log instructions, I don't have a folder "fr.handbrake.HandBrake". I have 4 folders called fr.handbrake.HandBrakeXPCService, fr.handbrake.HandBrakeXPCService2 etc none of which contain logs.

Could you please post your HB logs, instructions can be found here:

https://handbrake.fr/docs/en/latest/hel ... y-log.html

Can you open logs from the program?

Please see what I posted in the log section. The instructions don't work for me.

Here is what the program is showing but I may have restarted it since the issue:

PCM audio is not passed through by handbrake.

DTS and DTS-HD MA can be passed through unchanged, if you have enabled it, but you do not have any auto-pass through audio types defined.

That means all tracks will be encoded using the default encoder set, which is AAC 2-channel for compatibility.

What preset have you chosen to use?

Okay it looks like I've resolved it by creating entries in the codec section. I thought selecting pass thru against each code type in the Selection Behavior screen was what I needed but this doesn't appear to do anything.

Also would be good the get the log instructions updated.
