Distorting Region 2 DVDs

Post by oanapaulie04 »

Handbrake Distorting Region 2 DVD imports

I am using a multi-region optical USB-based DVD/Blu-Ray player set to Region 2 and had no problem importing these DVDs. Then the DVD player hit the 5-switch lock and I downloaded VLC, which did nothing (later uninstalled it). Long story short, I replaced the multi-region DVD/Blu-Ray player. It is set to Region 2 and plays DVDs fine on the mac. But now Handbrake is distorting the video images when trying to import whereas before it worked without issue. Do I need to now reinstall Handbrake?

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.2.2):

macOS 10.11.6 El Capitan

Since handbrake isn't intended as a disk ripper, what happens if you use actual disk-ripping software, like MakeMKV?

There is another possibility, that you're trying to force PAL video into NTSC sizes, but the missing log can't tell us that.
