Scan Problem

Scan can't see past FBI warning:

I'm trying to rip an 8-disc collection of circa 2006 A&E Home Video DVDs of its Nero Wolfe series. After several attempts, the scan only gets as far as the 17-second FBI Warning and no further. I'm using HandBrake's default settings for the rip. Do I need to adjust them?

For what this additional information is worth, I also tried ripping the same disc on my ancient MacBook that has MacTheRipper on it. The result there was also a failure: "Dummy VOB warning, The VOB indicates it was mastered with deliberate bad sectors."

Advance thanks for any help I can get.

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):

HB isn't very good with disks. Use something for that purpose, like MakeMKV, to rip to a video file, then use HB if you want further processing.
