Mac App Store

Please can the developer put this very useful app in the Apple Store, so that it is registered as available.

This is not possible due to the App Store's terms of service, which impose restrictions not compatible with the GPL license. See http://adium.im/pipermail/devel_adium.i ... 07973.html

If you want to have the app recognized by GateKeeper, being in the App store isn't necessary. My understanding of what you want is for the developer to join the Apple Developer program for $100 per year and get the app signed. Is that possible?

HandBrake is already signed with a Developer ID certificate from Apple.
But we can't put it on the AppStore because we can't relicense all the GPL libraries we use.
