It seems when it comes to Handbrake settings..trial and error is the method to figuring out the problem.
So many sources, codecs etc.
Some people just need the basic settings.
Here is one that I found that helped with detail and a bit more color saturation...due to pale color results.
its ever so slight but enough to get to where it's acceptable.
Try a few variations from here and experiment yourself.
But for newbies and people who don't have time to screw around....
this might help with some of the color/sharpen issues.

Re: Color faded/detail lost TIP
This is, generally, bad advice.
Stick to the defaults, kids.

Re: Color faded/detail lost TIP
After saying there is such a variety of sources, you then go and make recommendations that MAY work for SPECIFIC cases, and do not even specify what is the "starting point" for your "tips", beyond "the defaults".
Sorry, but defaults for a lot of the options you suggest tweaking change between presets, so you have no common base. And some of your "Additional options" are quite wrong for a number of common sources. Even a novice at option settings like me can see them.

Re: Color faded/detail lost TIP
Also, nothing being discussed here has a whit to do with color saturation.
