Expanded dmg file for Mac only offers option to move app file to a "Docs" folder!

Post by HandieTinker »

Description of problem or question:
Previously used a much older version of Handbrake with good results. Upgrading to latest version fails.

After downloading the dmg file for version 1.1.1, I expand it and see the standard popup window, except that there is no Applications folder in the popup window. Instead, the popup window shows the Handbrake app and a "Doc" folder to drag it to. But on a Mac the apps should be copied to the apps folder. This is not an option.

Copying the app file to the Applications folder does not work, as the Handbrake app apparently looks for information in the wrong folders.

???

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):
See above.

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

1.1.1

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):

MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6

Perhaps the problem is simply a bad link to the Handbrake dmg file on the Handbrak.fr website?

You can drag or copy it wherever you want, just like any other file in Finder. You are not limited to dragging it to a folder inside the same window.

You already installed it properly, but you told it to open a single .vob file instead of the whole dvd.

Well, that was easy! :-)

I had, in fact, dragged the app to the Applications folder. But, with the previous versions, I always selected single VOB files, and that worked fine.

It is a bit misleading to only put a folder labelled "Docs" in the popup window.

But it is certainly simpler to just select the whole disc.

Thanks very much!
