HandBrake resulting files are larger than original file

Post by Ruth_Victoria »

Description of problem or question:
I am trying to compress a video but instead of making the file smaller, it resulted in a larger file. I tried to adjust the noise but it did not work.

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):
MacOS

Re: HandBrake resulting files are larger than original file

Post by s55 »

Your starting off with low quality video to begin with. Your trying to encode to a higher quality than the source.

So, in this instance, change the Qualuty slider to RF 24 or higher to see if you can further reduce the filesize.

You should also change your audio to passthru or choose a lower bitrate.
