Question regarding Subtitle selection

Post by ionaselate »

Description of problem or question:

Hi!

I am using Handbrake to convert my ripped blu ray backups (mkv, ripped with makemkv) to mp4.
Unfortunately I cannot figure out how to use the subtitle option properly.
my expected behavior:
burn in or auto activate foreign audio (when the actors speak Russian or so).
provide option to add German subtitle permatnently (when movie is viewed in English for example).

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):

when I go to the subitles tab and select the first subtitle track (pgs) burn-in is always selected and light grey so I can't deactivate it.
what am I doing wrong?

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

1.1.0

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):

Mac OS X (10.13.5)

PGS is not compatible with MP4, so they must be burned in.
