Cant load into Itunes

Post by allanh »

First I want to say I am REALLY new to the MAC world. I ripped a DVD into an MP4(based on the settings in an article in "IPOD Handbook Winter 2007). It seems to have ripped fine, except I cant get it copied into Itunes and Qtime says its an invalid format. Help!!!!

Thank you

If you want to rip a Movie to use on your iPod, follow the instructions in the Tutorial listed in my signature.

It is an updated and improved version of Handbrake. The name was temporarily changed but the next version will revert to the Handbrake name.

no problem, I am the try it any way type, so I am converting one with the basic settings from the article.

fileformat and codecs are left defaulted

Bitrate = 500
Framerate = same as source
encoder FFMPEG\Keep AR = off
Deinterlace = Off
Anamorphic = Off
Picture output 640x480

anything I missed? I did nothing with the audio side.

Should work. I don't use FFMpeg for any rips so I can't comment on it but the settings you listed should work.

The site is back up now.

In the Preferences u have to select the ipod/itunes friendly option
Second u have to decide if u want ipod or not
if u want ipod there is a setting in the preferences to scale ipod rez

Third use x264 main or ipod version,
Mpeg4 will work.
recommended u use x264
recommended u use 2 pass encoding
recommended u use 1450kbps
recommended to leave audio alone

All of this is mentioned on the guide by baggas

I would like to thank everybody for there advice and assistance. You all are awesome. I seem to be getting it to work now. What is the suggested "donation" for use of the software.

Thank you

Absolutely nothing. HandBrake is free, both intellectually and in price, and will remain so.
