display size is 2 pixels off - doesn't match the source proportions

Post by outrolugar »

I create animations in photoshop then compress then in Handbreak for use in tablet magazines. I created an mp4 in square proportions 1080x1080. When I bring it into handbreak, it sees that the source is square. But on the export, display size shows up as 1078x1080. This causes the tablet to render it distorted. I am able to set the storage size but hand break won't allow me to edit the display size. What I am missing here?

PS CC 2017
HandBrake 1.0.7
OSX 10.12.5

By default, HandBrake tries to automatically crop/remove any black borders in the picture. The log shows it thinks it found one and is cropping 2 pixels on one side.

What you want to do is set crop to custom and all four sides to zero. Then you can save these settings as a custom preset and use them for future encodes.
