Subtitles revert to english

Please detail your question or problem in as much detail as possible:
I am trying to create the French Language version of Farscape with French subtitles (learning french). I check French as the language, that works. Then I check French subtitles as "forced" and I get english. If I check French subtitles as burned, that works.

Tell us about your environment. What version of HandBrake? What version of OSX are you running. etc.
I have 1.0.7 (2017040900) version of handbrake on OSX 10.11.6

This setting can cause some headaches like you're experiencing. Foreign Audio Search looks for a subtitle track that probably contains only the subtitles for languages and such that aren't dubbed. These are often called "forced subtitles", and it is assumed that the FAS track will only have 10% or fewer of the total number of subtitles.

If you're using French as the audio language, it will look at which of the French subtitle tracks is less than 10% of the other. It appears that FAS found that to be track 0 (zero), and that would normally be the case.

However, you also asked it to ONLY burn in those subtitles in track zero that were flagged as "forced". It is unlikely that ANY of them were, so nothing was burned in. Remove the "forced only" flag, and you will have subtitles for the non-French audio, in French.

The "full" French subtitle track is probably track 2.
