Handbrake won't launch on Mac Pro (early 2009)

Post by hjsalberg »

Handbrake won't launch on Mac Pro (early 2009) running OS X El Capitan 10.11.6.

Tried all versions back from v1.03 to v9.5 with no success. Possibly a security issue but nothing shows up in the Security control panel.

Console log with Handbrake 1.03:

Take note of GateKeeper: https://handbrake.fr/docs/en/1.0.0/get- ... stall.html

Maybe your issue?

Thanks for the speedy reply but that doesn't seem to be the problem. I ran Handbrake successfully in the past but suddenly stopped working at some point. No Gatekeeper messages now or issues in the Security control.

Try again following the latest instructions fro the Handbrake folks. Since they do not digitally sign Handbrake, the OS assumes its a potentially undesired piece of malware and blocks it. You can get it to manually launch by following their instructions (it will then launch correctly every time afterwards).

Which, in recent history, has been true, and the reason Apple makes you jump through this hoop to act like you know what you're doing.
