No Valid Source for MP4's I am trying to convert

Post by ucs308 »

My questions followed by the background info.

Is Handbrake the right tool?
Is there something obvious wrong with the MP4 file I am trying to re-encode?
Is there a bug in handbrake?

I have some MP4's downloaded from a TrendNet Video Recorder for WebCams. The files will not open in quicktime, but open fine in their own player and in VLC. I tried to use VLC to convert them but it crashes. So I am trying Handbrake. It will not open the files even though the acivity window sees the stream date. See snip from the activity window below.

VLC and Handbrake are being run on MacBook Pro running 10.11.6 (El Capitan). I tested the TrendNet player.exe on a Windows laptop running Windows 7. Handbrake is the latest version. With a fresh install today - it has been awhile since I lasted needed Handbrake. I am told that the there is nothing wrong with MP4 file by TrendNet, but I am not so sure.
