Setting to rip w/ chapters

I am using Version 0.10.5 x86_64 (2016021100) on a Mac w/ El Capitan 10.11.5. I am trying to rip home DVD movies that I created. There is a first play and then the movie transitions to a status page where you can select chapters with the player remote or mouse on a Mac. Whenever I rip to MPEG 4 it just plays the first chapter of the movie and then the rest of the movie vs. displaying the screen with all the chapters so I can select only certain chapters to watch. Is there a setting to resolve this?

Hello,

The chapter selection screen that comes up is actually not a part of your movie, but of the authored DVD structure. Your DVD authoring tool built this for you, probably according to your settings and style preferences.
HandBrake, on the other hand, only transcodes the movie as such, not the DVD structure. Besides, as far as I know, neither MKV nor MP4 containers would support such features anyway, so the point is moot.

HandBrake can either include chapter markers into the movie for you (that should happen more or less automatically), so you can jump between chapters when playing the movie.
Or, you could transcode chapters individually into stand-alone movie files if watching them back-to-back makes no sense anyway. Choose the chapter(s) to transcode from the drop-down menu to achieve this.

Cheers
