Newbie sees his HB installation suddenly doing nothing

Post by fkuebler@bluewin.ch »

I'm a layman, and a newbie not measured by usage years (now app. 4), but by technical knowhow. I hope that a friendly soul will give me the hint essential for my HB working again:

Since years I'm using the nightly builds of HB, always on the latest OSX (now 10.9.4), and never ran into serious problems. But due to a serious breakdown of my Macbook Pro I had to set up a completely new system, hardware and software wise, instead of doing the usual OSX migration process.

And suddenly my HB doesn't work any longer: the nightly 6227 crashes after a second. Of course I won't ask for a reason, but just wait for the next version.

But when I then installed the regular version 0.9.9 and tried to run a standard conversion (into *.mp4) using the Profile Apple TV3 with the same settings I believe to have always used, then HB finishes after about half a second and tells "queue ready", but nothing has been generated.

I'm convinced that this is a very silly and obvious mistake on my side, which I just cannot recognize.

Can anybody tell me what it might be? Thank you so much.

Are you pre-ripping to HDD or have libdvdcss installed? Have you done the initial region set on your drive? If you have and the problem persists, please post an actiivity log.

Thank you so much for caring.

I have no DVD (because it's place holds an SSD right now) so I could not set a region. I have installed your libdvdcss, and I do ripping to HDD from various *.mpv and *.ts files, like I always did successfully with HB for years. I guess that some library may be missing with my new computer setup.

I have posted the activity log of a run with the latest 6228 nightly, which crashes like the previous one, so it sure hasn't to do with the nightly. I desperately hope that you can see immediately what is going wrong:

Sounds like a permissions issue (the user account you're using doesn't have write permissions to /Volumes/HDD/, or something similar).

Long live the experts!

Setting output wo write to the local user directory did the trick, so I'll sure be able to remedy the whole issue.

EDIT: everything works perfect now.
