Why Has the time doubled on conversion

When hand brake came out. My computer would convert movies in half the time of the movie. Now it's taking twice the time of the movie to convert. So what am i doing different now than then with the new upgrade for 10.4. I have a Power Mac G5 2 G dual with a 1G on each processor.

HandBrake now uses different default options.

which ones should i use to get it at least to the same time as the actual movie.
