Hello good people,
I have obtained an MKV file that contains no subtitle track. So i found, on the internets, an SRT file that is a companion to my MKV file. When trying to encode for Apple TV 2 I am able to choose, via adding an external subtitle track, my SRT file. However I am not able to check either of the "forced only" and "burned in" boxes. "Default" is the only box Handbrake will allow me to check. This option does not give me hard coded subtitles on the resulting m4v file it produces. I'm certain either I am doing something wrong (likely) or asking Handbrake to perform a task it's not designed to do (less likely). Any help will be appreciated.

SRT subtitles cannot be burned-in. ASS/SSA subtitles can (but you have to embed them in the MKV file before feeding it to HandBrake, and you need to install XQuartz for burn-in to work).

Jubler should be able to convert to SSA and MKVMerge to mux them in.
