I'm using the newest version of HB..

everything works except for ac3. stereo works fine. I ripped using handbrake. 2 pass encode

HB isn't a ripper. Try MTR, AnyDVD, Fairmount, etc.

Handbrake svn1457 crashed while trying to encode the main title of Untraceable using the following settings:

AVI(XviD), 2-pass, 695MB, Track1: AC-3 passthru, Track2: MP3Lame(DPL II), Autoselect Subs + Forced

The actual settings are in a preset named Phillips DVD.

Deliver Us From Evil is problematic. It's got 36 chapters; I originally thought that this might be a bug in Handbrake which prevents the ripping. Mac the Ripper sends me read errors and "Can't read DVD file structure" messages.

Okay, it appears the DVD itself is defective. I had no problems playing it back. Strange...

Sounds like it may have been purposely badly mastered to keep you from doing what you want to do. Not that uncommon.

I can't get Sound of Music 40th edition to work with anything, I have Fairmount and DTOX, ANYDVD and Handbrake. Does anyone have a solution that works for this DVD, I want to add it to my Apple TV collection?

program crashes on SCAN

MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 dou, 5GB RAM, 200 GB HDD, OSX 10.5.3

HB crashes on SCAN
this disc has a very complex directory structure with 72 titles, HB gets to title 70 and crashes

Dr Who 2005 Series 1 Disc 2, just one episode - "Aliens of London" - always crashes HB in the same place.

I think it's something to do with the episode since I've had no problems with any other disc from Doctor Who seasons 1,2 and 3.

I have tried both using MTR first and directly from the DVD.

Is your search button broken? This has been discussed any number of times before. There's even a patch to fix it, that will eventually be committed after someone vets it.

"Untraceable" not working for ripping.
I am using v 0.9.2 (2008021900). I tried to load the source to get the chapters for "Untraceable" and it went through all the 33 chapters. Nearing completion, HB just quit. I tried selecting the disk and the video folder with the same result every time with 4 tries. I may try a different disk in the future in case this is a bad one. Although, the movie and all it's special features played without any problem.

Encodes just find, once ripped. Use a 3rd party ripper to handle the copy protection.

Golden compass and Apocalypto worked for me..

- Mounted on Fairmount
- DVD2oneX2: Begins to encode but stops at about 1%. You can hear the drive spin and then stop over and over again.
*Same result when trying Full-Movie and Movie Only
- Tried going directly to HB. Same result.
- Tried going directly to MTR. Same result.
- Tried extracting directly from disc (skipped Fairmount). Same result.

The disc appears to be in good condition - no blemishes, scratches, etc.

Eagles - Hell Freezes Over. This crashes handbrake 0.9.2 as soon as it tries to read the disc. Copied the original onto a DVD-R DL and tried that with the same result.

On Semi-Pro, try selecting Chapter 16 as this worked for me (chapter 1 appears to be full screen and 16 looks like the widescreen). HB defaults to a bad chapter.

Casino Royal and Untracable won't even load.

People do searches on titles before about posting about movies that "don't rip."

I believe that bug has been fixed in the SVN.You can either wait til the next release, or try the snapshot which may/may not include the fix.
