Mac OS X Lion: HB encode does not start.

Post by raziel1011 »

Running Lion and the newest nightly of HB (sv 4144).

When I click "Start" nothing happens. HB shows than an encode is pending but it never begins the process.

Any ideas what may be wrong?

1) quit HandBrake

2) backup your Home Folder > Library > Application Support > HandBrake folder

3) delete your Home Folder > Library > Application Support > HandBrake folder (but not the backup)

4) launch HandBrake and try again

Does it work?

That did the trick.

Thanks!

Cool :-)

I don't recommend putting the whole HandBrake folder back in place, but hopefully you should be able to salvage the UserPresets.plist file from your backup.

I looked for a HandBrake folder in Application Support. Nothing there. I have the same problem at the other fellow. But no matter how many times I try to "start" the encoding, nothing happens. Before moving to Lion, all was fine.

Anyone have any suggestions, either what to replace or where to look for the folder that isn't in Application Support?

You're probably looking in the wrong Application Support folder.

In the Finder, click "Go" in the menu bar. Hold down the option key, and "Library" appears. Click that, and then go into Application Support.

Be sure you are under your user directory and not the system's Library.

The Application Support folder in my Library folder does not have a HandBrake folder. There's only two folders in it: Mail and Mail Downloads.

The option key/Go menu got me to the correct Application Support. I found the HandBrake folder. So far, a second encoding is working.

There's more.

On a third DVD (the first 2 were DVD - TV shows), a movie, HandBrake scanned, but when I click 'start,' no encoding. I deleted the folder again. Still no encoding. And, when I quit the program, it won't. Force Quit is the only way out. That has happened several times, each time with the same DVD. That happens whether I stop the encoding (which never started) or simply quit.

A 4th DVD craches HandBrake before the scanning process begins.

The inconsistency is confusing.
