I don't recall if I was able to successfully rip/encode a movie since upgrading to 10.6.7 but I definitely cannot now. I've tried completely deleting the build directory for SVN HB and rebuilding again but the same problem happens:
When I launch HB, the app comes up and the open title dialog appears. If I select an MKV file to encode it hangs and if I just close the dialog, it hangs. Activity Monitor reports that the app has stopped responding. I can't even get any log files as to what's happening.
Anyone have any ideas on what may be going on or how to get some additional logging? Thanks.

HandBrake logs are written to disk. See the documentation.

If only I were smart enough to RTFM in the first place...Thanks...
So rebooting magically fixed the problem (ok Microsoft....er, Apple) and as such I don't have the log file anymore as it was clobbered by my next encoding session.
Some day I will learn. But not yesterday.
