Anamorphic on Low complexity (ipod) h.264, possible?

Post by Lostless »

Im not sure if this is a bug or just an incompatible feature with the low complexity H.264. Mpeg-4 anamorphic videos work great on the ipod, But im looking to start ripping in H.264 for use on my Ipod and xbox 360. I select Ipod H.264 and anamorphic, yet the anamorhic tages dont seem to stick. I always get a squished picture. Any ideas?

if you want to playback you should not use anamorphic encoding, the ipod does not support it.

sorry i do not have more details, but this is the basic rule:

IF ipod THEN no anamorphic :-)

The iPod will play videos that are QuickTime-compatible anamorphic h.264 baseline - but, won't respect the aspect ratio that's been set, so they're stretched vertically... which makes it rather pointless. Presumably this is why handbrake ignores you if you select anamorphic with the iPod x264.
