Re: No 5.1 when converting ?
Pass-through support for DTS audio is only available when encoding to a .mkv
Change your file format to MKV, then change where it says "AAC (CoreAudio)" to DTS passthrough.
EDIT: Oh, and MKV files won't play on the AppleTV. So your two options are really:
1) Don't have support for the AppleTV, but pass through the 5.1 DTS track
or
2) Live with stereo
If you were encoding directly from the source instead of some random MKV file that we'll assume wasn't pirated, then you could select the AC3 track which CAN be passed through on a MP4 container.

Re: No 5.1 when converting ?
Choose 6ch discrete instead of DPL2 mixdown.
Re: No 5.1 when converting ?
Note that the atv will downmix 6 channel discrete aac into 3.0 dolby. Frankly DTS to Dolby Pro logic 2 sounds better on the atv in my testing.mduell wrote:Choose 6ch discrete instead of DPL2 mixdown.
Re: No 5.1 when converting ?
Based on the info we have (mkv with DTS), it is a bit early suspect pirated. After all, if people do blu-ray rips using MakeMKV, which a lot of us are doing, we often end up with mkv files that have dts as many of the new commercial blu-rays don't use True-HD.
