Help: deinterlace noob

A few of the movies I ripped have noticeable interlacing artifacts. For example, "Grave of the Fireflies" -

So... What causes this? And what do I need to do to remove this?

Noticing interlacing artifacts is half the battle. The other half is to pull the trigger.

Thanks. Why do some movies do this while others don't? Also, when I ripped the same movie using Mediafork, this didn't happen. Why?
