Family Guy Fact-Ups Appearing

Problem: While the RIP to iPhone & iPod Touch went perfect for the Blue Harvest DVD, I am getting Family Guy Fact-Ups appearing from the RIP of the SSS Dark Side DVD. I tried ripping twice from the DVD and once from the output of RipIt (v1.3.3) with the same results (i.e. Fact-Ups appearing constantly). NOTE! The problem is not appearing in the RipIt output file.

Media: Family Guy Two-Pack, Full Frame, English DVD set contains Blue Harvest and Something, Something, Something DARK SIDE.

Handbrake: 0.9.4 ppc

I'm sensing more and more people are succumbing to 'title-itis'. It was originally an infection brought on by Disney DVDs, but now up to 85% of users of Handbrake are second guessing if title 1 truly is the correct one.

As an aside, I did this one the day it came out, and am not having this problem. The two differences between you and I are a) I used the correct title(1), and (b) I used MTR 4.0. I'll let you guess which one I'd try first. Hint-it doesn't involve gifting.

From the log, title 12 is longer than title 1, so HandBrake will have selected title 12…

Thanks for setting me straight. I figured it just picked the correct title by default, not just the longest title (in this case title 12).

Rodeo - I realize that. The reason I chimed in was due to the fact that very few people are even bothering to try one or two alternatives before posting. A simple check of the length of the movie in DVD player, followed by a comparison of the title lengths in Handbrake, would have solved this. It's not that I want to jump on searskd for it (I was here once). If this was standard practice in everyone's encoding routine, it would clear up a great many problems people generally have (chapters out of order, missing chapters, encoding only lasts 10 minutes, encoding completes after one second, so on and so forth).

It almost makes me wonder if the devs don't need to go Vista on this app and have warning boxes pop up for pretty much every action? Also, maybe I was just really [Censored] that day and got tired of reading the 30th redundant post while coming here to learn. Who knows...

It's a lot simpler than that - just check the title number in DVD Player.app, no need to compare durations…

I normally would agree with you, but I have found a limited amount of titles where the titles listed under DVD player in no way numerically match what Handbrake displays as usable titles. But the fallback is to simply compare the elapsed times. It's all good.

I'm guessing you were encoding from rips rather than direct from disc then.
