I have a few old movies which comes in the 4:3 format. When I convert these movies in standard settings for apple tv in Handbrake I get the black vertical sidebars. How do I go about to convert this into a 16:9 format.
I play the same movies on my blu-ray player and it plays the dvd in 16:9 - how can Apple TV play it the same way?

Re: 4:3 to 16:9 on apple tv
OK, not sure if that gave answere to my question so I ask again. I this the proper way of encoding a 4:3 movie into 16:9?
Source is 720x576
1. Changed picture settings to custom
2. Changed display width into 1024
3. That gave me an anamorphic output of 1024x576

How about trying these settings yourself on a sample chapter to see if it gives you what you want?elangsru wrote:I this the proper way of encoding a 4:3 movie into 16:9?
