Handbrake 9.4 will not start encoding

Post by ALbertG57 »

Once I add a file to the queue and, "Source:" says "Scanning new source" and stays there. Click on "Start" and it comes right back without having encoded the source file. Any suggestions? All was well with 9.3. MAC OS is 10.5.7 - log follows:

Handbrake 9.4 will not start encoding **until restart**

Post by TinkerTenor »

I had the exact same problem. After setting up my queue, pressing the "start" button does nothing. I've tried on the queue page, the main page, and still nothing. After pressing the button I hear and feel the DVD drive start to try and access the disc, but then nothing happens.

The workaround for me was to restart the program, allowing it to re-load the queue. After restarting, the encode begins as expected.

PS - Soft subtitles are awesome.

Thanks TinkerTenor - will give that a try. Sounds like a sofware bug to me but I am sure the handbrake crew is monitoring and will be able to shed some light on this. I will definitely try your solution (once I get back to the Mac.) I came up by way of Intel & Microsoft so am still a bit of a trog at the Mac. Albert

I've seen a couple of reports on this and am not sure where the problem lies... I suspect it's a conflict or compatibility issue with something in HB's preferences or app support directory.

You could try moving or deleting ~/Library/Preferences/org.m0k.handbrake.plist and ~/Library/Application Support/Handbrake/ (where ~ is your home folder) and see if that helps.

Hi - thanks for the assist. We managed to run using TinkerTenor's advice. Have found the files you suggest moving so that is the next step.
