I have read and followed the instructions given here. I have followed the recommendations mentioned in this post as well. These have not solved the problem.
I'm running HB 0.9.4 (PPC) and VLC 1.0.3 (Universal) on a Power Mac G5 Dual 2 GHz (OS X 10.5.8). I have also tried it using the PPC version of VLC 1.0.3. That made no difference.
So, I am running the PPC version of HB 0.9.4 (the PPC release does not have a 32/64-bit option--there's simply one download specified as PPC). I am running the Universal Binary for VLC 1.0.3 (there is only one link on the download page for the Universal version and there is no mention of whether it is 32/64-bit). I have the apps installed in the root /Applications directory. I have launched VLC and given it permission to run.
When HB first attempts to scan, I get:
If I click "Attempt Scan Anyway", I get:
Am I missing something?
Thank you

Re: More VLC Issues
There's a bug in 0.9.4 - "Attempt scan anyway" is broken. It's been fixed, the fix will be included in the next release.
As for HandBrake not seeing your Universal build of VLC, that's weird. Can you launch HandBrake, attempt to open a DVD, and post the contents of the Activity window?

Re: More VLC Issues
This is exactly the same problem that I'm having. When I click 'attempt scan anyway' the second time, it just opens a link to the VLC Website. I'm using a PowerBook G4 with 1.33 GHz PowerPc and OS 10.5.8.
