I have been using Handbrake for well over a year, very happily converting (for my own personal use) M4v movies so I could view them elsewhere. A few weeks ago, I traded up to Snow leopard and handbrake no longer seems to work properly.
When I try to load several M4v movies, I starts to 'scan new source' only to then report 'no valid source found.' The movie is valid and can be viewed through iTunes. Activity message report below marked ONE
If that doesn't happen, then the program appears to hang. At least it looks ok but when I click 'start' nothing happens. Activity message report for this is marked TWO below
I would really appreciate some help since I'm so furious this is happening, I am thinking about rolling back to plain leopard.

Re: Problem, maybe with Snow leopard
Movies purchased from the iTunes store can be played back on Apple hardware/software only (itunes, AppleTV, iPod/iPhone). They are encrypted. But you say you've converted iTunes-store purchased movies before?
Re: Problem, maybe with Snow leopard
It appears they are, HandBrake can not copy them. It doesn't support copy protected sources.
