sync: adding 1001 ms of silence to audio 0

Post by eric »

Okay, I give up. Having this problem and nowhere to turn. I see others have mentioned it on here and yet it does not seem to get addressed.

How do you remove the second or so of silence at the beginning of the encoded file?

Below is my log.

I see the line:
[22:10:48] sync: adding 1001 ms of silence to audio 0 start 90090, next 0
which looks awfully suspicious.

Thanks in advance for your prompt attention to providing a solution to this obvious problem.

The question you need to be asking is, "Is my audio noticeably out of sync?"

If not, then I would worry about entries like this in the activity log... you're probably looking at an audio stream with a non-zero offset.

Other than the second or so of silence I can't get rid of at the beginning of the encoded clip, (and all the clips I encode with Handbrake), the sync is perfect. The only problem is the silence at the beginning. I am only encoding movie files which are exported from Final Cut to be used for a podcast. Sux because of all the encoding programs I've tried, handbrake really looks to me to have the best results. Just would like to have the audio loose the second of silence at the beginning of all the clips and then I'll be in business with this.

I think this problem is fixed in the current development source by r2424.
