Is it possible to combine titles using HB?

Post by switters »

Description of problem or question:
I have a DVD that I purchased which I'd like to rip onto my Mac so I can watch on my iPad, etc. When I choose it as the source in HB, I see about 15 different titles which seem to correspond with different sections of the DVD. I would like to combine these into a single movie file, ideally preserving the chapter markers for easy navigation. Is this possible to do with HB and/or third-party software?

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):

N/A

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

1.1.2

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):

OS X Mojave

HandBrake does not combine titles.

But typically, a movie is a single title on DVD. The other titles are usually just extra content and clips used for menus and such.

In this case it's a low budget yoga DVD and I don't know what method they used to create it, but it's not the case that the main video is just one title. There are 16 titles and they're all key parts of the video.

One possible solution is to rip the disk with something like MakeMKV to MKV files, then use mkvmerge (search for "mkvtoolnix") to combine the multiple MKV files into one source file for handbrake. I'm told there is an option to make each file a "chapter" in the output file, but I have not used it.
