Why we still don't have this application for Android?

All phones are coming with FHD dual camera. Storage is going out of space all the time. With making ROM of devices up to 64 n 128GB inbuilt, how useful if we use this application in android also. I'm impressed with the features. But, why can't we use the same in android. Every phones got 64bits and 4 to 6Gb of RAM, so it won't be hard to create a file that supports for Android devices. I HOPE WE GET THE ANDROID APPLICATION SOON.

It's not on the plan for a number of reasons:

1. The vast majority of tablets / phones out in the real world, are not powerful enough to run HandBrake and/or don't have the thermal headroom to run an intensive app for long periods of time.
2. The fragmentation issues on Android would make this an absolute nightmare support. For a hobby project with only a few people contributing free time, it would never be practical to support this.
3. Cameras on phones already record to compressed H.264 or in some cases now H.265, so there is little benefit to re-encoding on device
4. Finally, there just isn't any real demand for it.

I wonder how many minutes a fully-charged battery would last if you did run handbrake on Android? Hopefully the phone/tablet has thermal limiters to stop it from catching fire...

Karhik, the source for handbrake is downloadable. Android is based on Linux, so, if it REALLY interests you to have this, you can do the port yourself. To simplify your life, you would want to see if the other projects that handbrake depends upon have done an Android port for your particular version and processor.

Well, he's right: it would be much harder to create an Android device that supports such a file…
