Presumably he just figured out interlaced VC1 is not supported by reading his logs.

*sigh* I'm trying not to post but...

This isn't Tech Support, it's an FYI ('I' standing for Information). It looks as though they've never seen it before. I could have just posted the Mediainfo data, but added the logs to prove it's not just Progressive VC1 tagged as interlaced.

Did you read the 'Preview with Subtitles' thread? Do you just have problems processing information?

Erm, what, now we're unaware that the libavcodec VC-1 decoder does not have complete support for interlaced VC-1 compression? Obviously not.

Or is it about Torchwood specifically? What content is encoded in VC-1 interlaced doesn't really matter, what we need is for someone over at Libav to implement the missing part of interlaced VC-1 decoding (it's in progress, though lately it's mostly been fixing crashes rather than fixing decoding itself).

You seem to mean well, but reading your posts is tiring, I'm afraid.

I fully understand that and had already decided to abandon the forum, despite there being so much more I could learn from it. However, mduell seems determined to provoke me.

I suppose TedJ is just a moderator and cannot be considered an authority on these matters but based on what he'd said it sounded like this was the first anyone had heard of Interlaced VC1 being used in commercial media. I only came back to show it was true and that I hadn't been mistaken.

Sadly, I don't think it's the people that are asking for help that are bothered by my behaviour.

(There's this little niggling thing in my head wondering why you mentioned Torchwood...)

Yea, it hasn't been mentioned in the forum in nearly 2 days.

I'm afraid you've misinterpreted what I said. My experience is limited on insofar as I haven't personally encountered a BD that uses interlaced VC1. My experience of handling support requests on this forum over the last several years had led me to the conclusion that interlaced VC1 is rare outside of BBC releases, which are most assuredly commercial releases.

And Dr. Who and Torchwood are most definitely two series released by the BBC.

Just a moderator? Doesn't know what he is talking about? Considering the number of threads here that pertain to people not being able to transcode interlaced VC1, I'm pretty sure everyone here knows it's not supported by the libav libraries.

I've made the mistake of assuming that all interlaced Blurays were VC1 and have had Rodeo correct me either here, or at the MakeMKV forum. Is he sensitive to my needs to be treated gently? Who cares! He tells me when I'm wrong, and I assimilate the information and life goes on.
