I propose to update the libs to the latest versions, do someone work on it ?
If no, I will try my best to get that done and tested..
ie libdvdread is 0.9.4 and the latest is 0.9.7.

So be careful.A word of caution on the "contrib" directory - you want to be careful about upsetting the delicate balance there, since many of the contributed sources are hand-patched for a specific version
Also, keep in mind that open source projects are inevitably in a constant state of development. The latest libs could easily break the methods HB uses, or introduce new or different bugs.
However, if you are going to do this, the first step is ffmpeg. There's already a thread started on that one, and it seems it shouldn't be too much work to update.
