MJPEG support

Post by miraculli »

I just descoverd HB/MD and think ist a great tool for ripping DVD to smaller files.
I work as an Cutter and somtimes I get promotion-DVDs with material on it i should work with.
So: how get this muxed mpeg2 stream into my NLE?
In my opinion the best way would be to convert the mpeg2-stream into an mjpeg-file an import it to my NLE.
But I haven´t found soucht a tool right now.
perhaps HB/MD will do this one day...

cheers

On the mac, you can convert DVD material to a QuickTime movie with the motion jpeg codec with Mpeg StreamClip (you need the mpeg2 component for QuickTime but other than that it's free). You also need to decrypt the DVD with MacTheRipper first. You can even trim clips of a DVD before exporting them. Is that what you're looking for?
Or if you're using FinalCut Pro, DV format could be a good choice too.
