Drag & Drop several folders.

Post by Luis »

Please describe what you would like to see added to HandBrake:

Drag & Drop multiple folders inside the queue emergent window.

Why would you like to see this added:

Because adding several videos from many different folders can be tedious.

What version of HandBrake are you currently running:

1.07

What operating system and version and you currently running (e.g. OSX 10.11, Windows 7, Ubuntu 14):

OSX 10.11.6

Notes:

It seems the "source" function does not allow subfolders to be considered. Also, drag & Drop is always much better imo. Tried to add several folders by dropping them onto the GUI but it only reads one of them. If dropping a folder containing subfolders it won't do anything at all. Maybe catching all folders or what ever contains a folder tree with its existing drag & drop function would be a quicker solution not entirely sure.

Parsing sub-folders is often requested but has never been implemented.

The common answer to this is to script the CLI to do it.

Thanks for pointing that out. I've seen some old posts from 2013-14 so I decided to give it another go. Maybe the feature requests section should have a voting poll so it would be easier to see if people really care about having a certain feature.

I know of HandBreakBatch which does a better job at dealing with multiples files but it does not support HEVC which is what I am currently using.

HB is not a democracy, if a dev wants to work on a feature they will.

You can always submit your own patch.

I don't have the skills to patch it. I wish I did.

What you need to do is take what skills you do have and convert them into money, then use that money to pay someone to write your patch :)

I don't think I've ever heard of a user doing something like this. It would be prohibitively expensive unless someone had a "programmer friend"

There also no guarantee we would accept the patch regardless

Yeah, that's what I thought. Anyway, I am leaving the request here for anyone to take into consideration. I think is a good feature and it can make our lives a lot easier at times.
