Hopefully this hasn't been posted here before, I searched but nothing came up.
Please describe what you would like to see added to HandBrake:
An Video encoder Waifu2x that caters more to animation upscaling and clean-up. There has been a plugin built for AviUtl. The project is on Git https://github.com/nagadomi/waifu2x
Why would you like to see this added:
Currently the codecs that are used are great when compressing, but not as effective as one specifically built for optimized upscaling.
What version of HandBrake are you currently running:
1.0.7
What operating system and version and you currently running (e.g. OSX 10.11, Windows 7, Ubuntu 14):
Windows 10, 64-bit

Re: Add Waifu2X Video Upscaling Support
Looks like it needs CUDA? May not be a good fit for Handbrake.
Re: Add Waifu2X Video Upscaling Support
at least one project is working on porting it to opencl, but that version is in active development still (EDIT: the project looks kinda dead atm., last commit is from 2015)
https://github.com/marcan/cl-waifu2x
the results of waifu2x look very promising for certain types of images though

Re: Add Waifu2X Video Upscaling Support
I think Bradley is experimenting with alternate upscaling algorithms, though of course patience is required, it won't happen overnight…
