Sometimes I want to rip episode-DVD's as a single mp4/mkv file (mostly children DVD's). Would be nice with builtin functionality to append several titles to eachother.

Muxing solutions abound. Not that it will "never" happen, just that Handbrake hasn't joined that category of utilities.
