Progress bar that reveal comression

Post by Sprinterdriver »

Hi.

Since HB is used to compress video files, I would love it if a progress bar would show the compression efficiency, just like the progress bar in Winrar.

Main bar color (light gray in Winrar) would represent size of input file while overlay bar color would represent output size.

Might be feasible (not sure how tricky it would be) for libhb-based interfaces (the Windows GUI is still a HandBrakeCLI wrapper for now).

I have no interest in implementing that, however. Patches welcome though.

You could probably do it via some crude file size vs time calculations but it's not going to be very accurate

I suggest we leave that one alone.

In my opinion, it doesn't need to be so detailed. Just the current video bitrate + current file size would make me very happy (e.g.: kb/s x, xB/KB/MB/GB).

It can be done manually already... If you don't care.
