[Future] Named subtitle tracks

Post by AlBundy »

An option to set the name of the subtitle-tracks would be nice.
--> according to the parameter "--aname"

Why is it not possible to use this names on MKVs?

Thanks

Being able to name subtitle tracks certainly makes sense. I have other high-priority things on my TO-DO list, but I may eventually look into it.

Regarding the other issue: are you saying --aname doesn't work for MKV files?

https://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/CLIGuide says
-A or --aname: sets an audio track's name. Only available in .mp4 files. This is useful for the AppleTV, which otherwise gets confused when more than one track is in the same language and codec.

Hmm. This ought to be possible for MKV too, but maybe it's not yet implemented in our MKV muxer. I'll have to check.

I've converted a movie to mkv with the parameters - vlc at least does not show the track-names (with m4v it works).

Just to be clear: named audio-tracks working only with m4v.
named subtitle-tracks don't work with m4v or mkv

Still on my TO-DO list, but the next release takes priority.
No new features are being added since we're in code freeze.
