Greetings HB Team,
On the Mac side of things, Subler 0.17 (read about it here) has implemented a feature where soft subtitles (from SRT files) can be forced on. I've tested this on a few titles and the results work fabulously well on Macs, iOS devices, and PCs.
Would there be any way to implement this within HandBrake?
(This saves Windows users -- I unfortunately know a few, lol -- from having to convert SRT files into SSAs, then plugging the remuxed MKV into HB. It would be nice for all users too, I guess, tho I'm guessing most of us Mac folks use Subler anyway.)
I'm hearing (like everyone else) of some changes to subtitle rendering in iOS 6, so I think this text-based feature would have value, if the renderer is indeed improved.
Thanks for reading.

There probably is. We just haven't looked into it yet.
