Include external subtitile files

I see that handbrake has recently recieved better subtitle support. This got me thinking. Could it be done so that we can include external subtitle sources other than just srt files? For example. Maybe the button could be changed from "Add External SRT..." to "Add External Subtitle..." and then give us the option to add subtitles.

Sure it could. Who's going to write the universal subtitle format translater that this would require? It's a non-trivial task. These kind of things come incrementally as volunteers have the time and interest to add parts.
