At the moment, iTunes allows the following:
If it's at all possible and worth your time, please allow us to utilize these extra audio encoding options: VBR encoding, HE encoding, and "Optimize for voice".
Enable the utilization of more CoreAudio import options.

Re: Enable the utilization of more CoreAudio import options.
The encoder is using "VBR Constrained", the same as iTunes.
he-aac is possible, but it only useful at low bitrates, (<80kb/s), I don't know how much interest there is in it.
"Optimize for Voice", dunno what what actually does.

Phew, that's a relief. That's the most important feature of the three anyway. Thank you.

Personally, I would love to use he-aac sound.
Re: Enable the utilization of more CoreAudio import options.
No offense but iTunes probably isn't the best example of CoreAudio features. AFAIK iTunes doesn't use CoreVideo or CoreAudio at all, it is still a Carbon app. Quicktime X is now fully CoreVideo and CoreAudio and has no problems displaying any 720p or 1080p MP4 files that make iTunes completely stutter and choke
Re: Enable the utilization of more CoreAudio import options.
iTunes uses the same aac encoder. That fact about it being Carbom means nothing. Core Video and Core Audio are C apis, so you can use them everywhere.
Re: Enable the utilization of more CoreAudio import options.
Your experience is not the same as mine... QuicktimeX has been a big disappointment. I quickly reinstalled QT7 and haven't looked back since. For starters, the soft subtitle capability is completely lacking, and I've experienced various pauses/freezes during playback of HD sources.Brash wrote:No offense but iTunes probably isn't the best example of CoreAudio features.
