Raw MPEG-2 copy

Post by mbeyer »

Hi,

I'd like to make a request for an option to do a raw MPEG-2 copy the dvd video title.
According to this post it's not very hard to implement.
I'm well aware of the disk space it will take up, but I'd really like to have my DVDs transcoded "as is".

So, if it's really not that much work, please add this to your already great software :)

Best regards,
Marcus

You misunderstood jbrjake's post. What he meant by If you really want it, though, I could implement it very easily is support for x264's lossless mode (RF 0), not MPEG-2 passthrough.

Adding MPEG-2 passthrough is outside the intended scope of HandBrake, which is an MPEG-4/MKV transcoder. There are other tools that already do what you want, such as MakeMKV.

Oh, I'm sorry.
Sadly, MakeMKV is Windows/Mac only, and I'm running Linux.
I'll keep looking though, thanks.
