I've copied the CLI to aTV, but when I started, I got the following error message:
-bash-2.05b$ ./Applications/HandBrakeCLI
dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libiconv.2.dylib
Referenced from: /mnt/Scratch/Users/frontrow/./Applications/HandBrakeCLI
Reason: Incompatible library version: HandBrakeCLI requires version 7.0.0 or later, but libiconv.2.dylib provides version 5.0.0
Trace/BPT trap
Is there any way to get around this? What if I replace these libraries?

Re: Run HandBrake CLI on Apple TV
Why would you want to do something like this?
Re: Run HandBrake CLI on Apple TV
Need a hot plate to set your coffee on or cook an egg?
Re: Run HandBrake CLI on Apple TV
There is a lot of time (especially working hours) when apple tv does nothing, maybe some downloading. But when I want to transcode something, if slowly, it could do it. I hate that all of my fans are flying away in my macbook because of transcoding. Thats the idea. Bad?
Re: Run HandBrake CLI on Apple TV
Don't forget that the AppleTV runs hot enough as it is! While it's technically possible to do what you want, the hardware simply wasn't designed for that kind of intensive work. I'm all for proof of concept though: your iPhone runs a version of OS X too, so why not use that for HB rips in between calls...

Re: Run HandBrake CLI on Apple TV
The non-smartass answer is that the HB CLI client needs to be compiled using OS X 10.4.9 (IIRC) frameworks if it's to run on an Apple TV. That explains the error you see.
The Apple TV does run mighty hot, though. Peg its CPU to the nines with HB and it will turn incandescent. Good for an extra light in the room...
