I want to be able to upscale DVDS to 1080i

Just to add to what jbrjake said, your TV's upscaling would likely do a better job because it would be optimized to the TV's display technology.

Sounds great however... it will not improve quality.... and will only take more time to upscale it!! Also by upscaling a DVD you will see more artifacts, making it hard if not impossible to get a decently viewable movie!! Not to mention the space would be HUGE to store because you would have to really overkill the bitrate..... and well to say it honestly it would be quite pointless :( not to sound rude, I have tried this before with popcorn 2 (custom option) and all this did was waste my time!

However if you must upscale a DVD I would recommend using Popcorn 2 then!!!
