Other Media Formats

Now that Blu-Ray and HD are making it big and multi-format devices like this:

...are becoming available for the computer world, will HB be ready to support them?

Open-source, POSIX tools for the high def formats are still very immature.

And the only really useful decryption tool is Windows-only; I don't think I want HB even playing at cracking that stuff.

But assuming someone wanted to do an AnyDVD HD -> HB workflow, the questions start to be about reading the file structures, demuxing the containers, decoding the AVC and VC-1, and, harder still, dealing with the high-rez audio.

But the crappy, rare, MPEG-2 Blu-Ray discs should be easy enough to run though.

Basically, this isn't going to happen until and unless someone (superdump) decided to overhaul libhb to work more closely with ffmpeg.
